Japan Diaries - Spring Koi & Tategoi trip - March 2014
James and Bev have now arrived back from our Spring Koi buying trip the Ogata Farm in Japan last week.
It was a very successful trip with over 3500 Koi selected - including Tosai, Show Koi, Tategoi, Nisai (2 years) and Sansai (3 years)
In between selecting Koi, we were lucky enough to visit some of the local Koi farms to see what they were producing. We appreciate the time they spent showing us around and their hospitality! Highlights were seeing the Koromo that won best in variety at the All Japan Show 2014 at the Muruchiku Koi Farm - a stunning fish in real life!
The Koi tended to be overshadowed somewhat by the natural events occurring in Japan and talking points were about the 'mini typhoon' that swept in one afternoon and the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that shook the hotel at 2am on Thursday morning.
We look forward to the arrival of our Koi shipments in the next couple of weeks. Koi will be available to view in store after their settling in period from first week of April.
