Product Description

Morenicol Lernex Pro is developed for the treatment of resistant worms on ornamental fish. Lernex Pro is based on the most recent scientific knowledge and contains high quality antihelminthics like Nitroscanate and Flubendazole, against which no resistance has been build up yet. Therefore, Lernex Pro is effective against resistant skin flukes (Gyrodactylus) and gill flukes (Dactylogyrus). The presence of these parasites can only be determined with a microscope. Symptoms of an infection with these parasites include listlessness, chafing and reduced appetite. For the treatment of anchorworms, fish lice and leeches Lernex Pro cannot be used, use our product Lernex (without Pro) instead.

Determination of pond volume: Calculate the volume of the pond to be treated as accurately as possible. In metres: length x breadth x average depth x 1000 = volume in litres.

Water quality: For an optimal effect of the treatment and for a quick recovery of the diseased fish, a good water quality is essential. Hence, always test the water quality before and after the treatment, and correct when necessary.

Dosage: 1 ml per 20 litres of pond water. When needed the treatment can be repeated after 14 days. Ensure an optimal pond aeration during treatment, so that your fish have sufficient oxygen available at all times. The needed amount of Lernex Pro can be measured with the included measuring cup. This amount should be poured into the pond water slowly at a spot with sufficient water flow, e.g. the outflow of a pump or filter. Remove carbon and zeolite during treatment; UV-lamps and ozone should be switched off during 1 week after the last administration

After the treatment: Use Colombo Fish Protect 48 hours after the last dose of Lernex Pro. The mucus layer of the fish is protected and the remainders of the medicine are removed. By adding Vita-Spray to the fish food the appetote of the fish is encouraged and the recovery is supported.

Warning: At first, the activity of the parasites can increase after administering Lernex Pro to the pond. This irritates the fish which flash 8 through the water and can even jump out of the pond. Hence, observe the fish well during and after the treatment. Only for use on ornamental pond fish. Keep out of reach of children. Store in the box, dry and dark at a temperature of 4 to 32°C. Do not inhale. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Close package carefully after use.

Effect upon other animals: There is but little known as to the effect upon other water animals, such as frogs and salamanders.

Pets and birds drink water from the pond to which this medication has been added. In general it is thought that, if fish can swim in the water, it is harmless to animals who drink from the same water. Nevertheless, it would be advisable during the treatment, to give animals (e.g. dogs and cats), who regularly drink water from the pond, a dish of water.

Decomposition: Added therapeutics will disappear automatically from ponds because of natural processes, such as oxidation and decomposition by means of bacteria.

Combinations: Between administration of Morenicol Lernex and Morenicol Alparex, there has to be a waiting period of 2 weeks. The effect of a combination with other products is at your own risk.

Water temperature: Fish parasites are cold-blooded, which means that, at lower temperatures, their metabolism reduces. Below 10°C Morenicol Lernex Pro is absorbed insufficiently by the parasite, it’s recommended to increase the water temperature to improve absorption.

Skin- and gill worms are flattish trematodes, 0,3-0,5 mm in size which were previously relatively uncommon in pond fish. However, nowadays they are regularly encountered. Gyrodactylus is the skin worm. This worm gives birth to living young and is therefore capable of rapid and massive reproduction. The resultant skin irritation gives rise to thickening of the skin and to the production of a slimy mucous layer over the skin. The gill worm is called Dactylogyrus. This parasite lays eggs. It causes damage and irritation to the gills 9 with resultant thickening and loss of full function. Infested fish rub their gills on plants and stones. In advanced cases they swim with the gills permanently opened and they can even die. Since 1-2 years more and more cases are known in which mainly skin flukes (Gyrodactylus) have become resistant against the commonly used antihelminthics, like triclabendazole, levamisole, fenbendazole and piperazine. Therefore, Colombo has found after extensive research a for fish new antihelminthic which is still effective against resistant flukes: Nitroscanate. Nitroscanate is already effective at very low concentrations after only one treatment. To increase the efficiency and thereby reducing the chance on development of resistance, Nitroscanate is combined with flubendazole and praziquantel in one unique medication.
