NT Labs Medikoi Health Koi Food
Medikoi Health food is the best way to maintain the immune system of
your fish. The unique ingredients ensure that Medikoi Health enables
your fish to be at their healthiest.
"Stimune" helps the fish’s natural immune system to fight infection. The
immune system’s first line of defence against invading micro-organisms
are white blood cells known as macrophages. Macrophages recognise
foreign bodies including bacteria and parasites and engulf them before
they can multiply and cause disease. "Stimune" is a beta-glucan which
helps maintain large numbers of macrophages in the circulatory system.
Medikoi Health also contains a unique natural herbal formula developed
in our laboratories which helps to maintain resistance to disease .
Lemon skin, olive leaf and Artemesia all help maintain resistance to a
wide variety of infections. Valerian root has been known for a long time
to be an excellent sedative so helps to reduce stress. Other herbs in
the formula also aid digestion.
Propolis is also included in Medikoi Health. Propolis is produced by
honey bees to keep the hive free from infection. Propolis is, therefore,
good for speeding recovery after infection.
Recommended feeding: In order for Medikoi health to provide continued support to the immune system, fish should be rested from it from time to time. Therefore, we recommend feeding Medikoi Health for 3 weeks and then Medikoi Beauty for 2 weeks before resuming the Medikoi Health. If desired, you can replace Medikoi Beauty with Medikoi Growth or Wheatgerm with Garlic. Alternatively, you can feed any combination of these feeds during the rest from Medikoi Health. When feeding Medikoi Health, you can also feed Medikoi Growth or Wheatgerm with Garlic for the second feed of the day. New Lower Prices In 2011 On all Medikoi Food

NT Labs Medikoi Wheatgerm with Garlic
Protect your Fish from Parasites
Medikoi Wheatgerm with Garlic is formulated to protect your fish
from parasites. Garlic is rich in sulphur containing compounds
which give it it's characteristic smell. These compounds are known
to have repellant properties. The volatile oils in garlic diffuse
through the skin of the fish and into the mucus layer. Parasites
which live in the mucus layer of the fish react to these compounds
by swimming away from them.
Fish are most vulnerable to parasitic attack when the water starts
to warm up again in the spring and when new fish are introduced
into the pond.
In the cooler times of the year when the fish in your pond are being
given a rest from the rapid growth provided by higher protein diets,
they should be fed Medikoi Wheatgerm with garlic.
Medikoi Wheatgerm with Garlic is very effective at stimulating the
appetite. If fish have been moved or have "gone off their food"
Medikoi Wheatgerm with Garlic can encourage them to feed again
very quickly.
When rapid growth is not a priority, Medikoi
Wheatgerm with Garlic can be fed throughout the year.
Medikoi Wheatgerm with Garlic can be used as a substitute for
Medikoi Beauty in the Health food feeding regime. It can also be
fed as a second choice whilst feeding Medikoi Health.

| NT Labs - Koi Care Acriflavin | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Recommended |
NT Acriflavin treatment for bacterial ailments
All ponds will contain billions of minute bacteria. These include helpful species that
breakdown the toxic fish waste in the biological filter system, and convert it into nitrate,
which is then taken up by the plants. However, there are also other bacteria that live in the pond that are opportunistic invaders of stressed and wounded fish, including the species Pseudomonas and Aeromonas which will infect any cut or abrasion on the surface of the fish, and can also invade the host across the gut wall during gastro-intestinal problems. Acriflavin, when added to the pond, will reduce the numbers of these opportunistic bacteria in the pond, thus lowering not only the chance of infection, but also the intensity of disease in already infected ponds. Acriflavin is ideal to use in hospital or quarantine tanks, but it is unwise to constantly add the treatment to the pond when the fish are healthy. This is because a background level of bacteria is essential for healthy fish to maintain their immune system. Before treating with Acriflavin: Remove adsorbent filter material - carbon, zeolite etc. Switch off UV Increase Aeration Allow plenty of time to observe fish Do not mix medications Leave 10 days between treatments if no improvement is seen Dosage: 250mls treats 2000 gals (9092 ltrs) 500mls treats 4000 gals (18184 ltrs) 1 litre treats 8000 gals (36200 ltrs ) 2.5 litres treats 20000 gals (90920 lts) A single dose should be sufficient. If not, wait 10 days before adding a second dose.

| NT Labs - Koi Care B-D-S Fluke Treatment | ||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Recommended |
NT Labs B-D-S Fluke Treatment
The skin and gill flukes Dactylogryus Sp. and Gyrodactylus Sp. are notoriously difficult to treat directly in the pond. This is because they are protected by the natural mucus layer on the fish and by causing the fish to produce more mucus by irriating the skin and gills.
There is also some evidence that some species of these parasites are resistant to some regulary used treatments.
Successful treatment depends upon ingredients which can penetrate the mucus and reach the parasites.
B-D-S fluke treatment provides a well tried and tested formulation which treats both skin and gill flukes as well as bacterial diseases such as fin rot or tail-rot and ulcers in a strength sufficient to treat large ponds easily.
The correct dose of B-D-S fluke treatment does not affect the filter bacteria or plants and persists in the water long enough to destroy the various stages of parasite which may otherwise remain to re-infect treated fish.
Before treating with B-D-S: Remove adsorbent filter material - carbon, zeolite etc. Switch off UV Increase Aeration Allow plenty of time to observe fish Do not mix medications Leave 10 days between treatments if no improvement is seen Dosage: Add 10ml of B-D-S to every 80 gallons (363L) of pond water

| NT Labs - Koi Care Permanganate | ||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Recommended |
NT Labs Permanganate Dip
Powerful Parasite, Fungus and Bacterial Bath Treatment
A dip treatment for Koi and other pond fish. active against parasite, fungus and bacteria, Permanganate Dip also cleans the water by destroying dissolved organic material.
In the process, the active permanganate is also destroyed, making the water brown instead of pink.
For this reason we advise the use of this product as a dip where the concentrated solution is diluted in clean water and, therfore, retains its strength throughout the treatment time.
As a dip it is excellent at cleaning ulcers and wounds and destroying any parasites and bacteria which may be eating away at the wound
During the dip treatment any Argulus fish lice will drop off the fish, thus removing another source of stress and illness.
The long term bath treatment of 3 ppm is close to the toxic level for fish and, if the water is clean and free from organic matter (unlikely in a normal pond), it is possible to overdose. If fish become stressed whilst being treated, milk can be added to the water to reduce the permanganate level. Hydrogeon peroxide can also be used and will provide extra oxygen as well.
These are other reasons for preferring the dip treatment.
When added to the pond at 1 ppm, permanganate Dip will reduce the organic load in the water making more oxygen available for the fish by reducing the chemical oxygen demand of the water
The skin of the fish under dip treatment may appear brown, this is because the mucus on the skin has neutralised some of the permanganate. It is harmless and will soon disappear.
Dosage Add 10ml to 88 gallons (400 litres for a 1 ppm pond cleaning treatment. add 10ml to 9 gallons (40 litres) for a 10 ppm 30 minute bath treatment.
